Rabbits can be vaccinated against 2 diseases. Myxomatosis is a viral disease carried by fleas and other biting insects such as mosquitos. It is always fatal and causes severe inflammation and swelling of the genitals, eyes and some areas of the skin which become secondarily infected. This leads to blindness and severe illness.
The other disease against which rabbits can be protected is Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD). This is also a fatal disease which can cause sudden death due to toxaemia (blood poisoning). Recommended rabbit vaccine protocol:
