Rats, Mice and Hamsters: The main problems with these species are either skin related (mites/hormonal), respiratory, or visible growths/tumours – often caused by viruses in rats and mice.

Rats can also develop a red discharge from their eyes which resembles blood. It is in fact a porphyrin secreted from the Harderian Gland and is related to underlying stress or other disease.
