About Us: Meet the Staff

"Our mission is to provide a friendly, high quality, veterinary service, where attention to detail, client's needs and their pet's welfare are given the highest priority."

At Alexandra & Hillyfields Vets we have 2 full time vets who are the directors and owners of the practice and we employ 1 part time vet, 2 full time and 1 part time, fully qualified registered veterinary nurses and 1 practice manager.

VETS

Tim Wilson BVSc MRCVS – Tim qualified from Bristol University in 1999 and is one of the directors. He has worked in mixed practice in the South West and has spent time in Morocco doing charity work and in Australia as a locum. He is a qualified Divemaster and has a special interest in exotic species. He lives in Bristol with his wife (Claire – see below), their son Toby (born end of 2009), 3 cats, 2 tortoises, 3 chickens, 2 gerbils and a tank full of tropical fish!

Rob Kilby BSc (Hons) BVet Med MRCVS – Rob is the other director and qualified from the RVC in London in 1997. He has a special interest in dog and cat behaviour work and in orthopaedics. In his spare time he enjoys going running with his collie Maddy and training her in agility.  He has recently become the proud father of daughter Daisy born in March 2010.

Charmaine Cook BVSc (Hons) MRCVS – Charmaine was born and raised in sunny Adelaide, Australia and graduated from the University of Queensland as a vet in 1995. She has been in the UK since 1998, initially on a working holiday but now she is a fully fledged west-country girl with a UK passport. She enjoys all aspects of general veterinary practice. When not at work, she is a keen traveller and motor cyclist, sometimes combining the two in to touring adventures!

NURSES

Claire Wilson RVN (Head Nurse) – Claire qualified in 2004 and has worked in practices in Bridgwater and Bristol. She is married to Tim (see above) and is an avid cat lover. She is also co-author of an A-Z Dictionary Of Veterinary Nursing. Currently she works part time at both practices and when not at work, she looks after her son Toby and their menagerie. In any spare time she enjoys swimming, walking and eating freshly laid boiled eggs!

Vicky Williams RVN – Vicky qualified in 2002 and has worked in practice in Cholsey, Malvern and Minehead. She is now in charge of day to day running of the Winscombe practice. When not at work she spends her spare time visiting historic places and walking.

Kath Pritchard – Kath came to Alexandra & Hillyfields Vets at the beginning of 2009 from the Rowe Veterinary Group where she had been a full time night nurse. She started out 15 years ago in a small one man practice in her home country of Scotland and now has a wealth of experience in all aspects of nursing. She has the uncanny ability to instill confidence in the most anxious client or animal with her warm and calming Scottish brogue. She runs our Clevedon surgery and in her spare time she looks after her ageing horse 'Katie' and loves to go snowboarding whenever possible.

Anne-Marie Turner RVN – Anne-Marie qualified in 2003 and came to Alexandra & Hillyfields Vets at the beginning of 2010, from a practice in Paignton in Devon. She had worked there for 14 years and was head nurse for the last 3 years. In her spare time she likes to spend time with friends and family and has a cat called Miss McGee who she describes as ‘naughty but nice!’

PRACTICE MANAGER

Brenda Johnson – Brenda joined us in December 2007 in the role of office and accounts manager. She has extensive experience in the field of accounting and is in charge of making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes. When not at a computer at one of the practices she is a full time mum with her two boys and when not at work she enjoys body boarding, running, or can be found on the netball court.
